Anansi Awaiting
Prints for Sale
Mixed media on canvas 18x24in.

This work is titled after the trickster spider god Anansi, and represents our instinctive fear of spiders alongside the spiritual concept of fearing “God”. This work came from my frustration in awaiting significant changes in my life, waiting and longing for god to reveal itself while seeking a “miracle”. The waiting is marked by tension and frustration -waiting for the spider to move so we can understand or plan our next move- reflecting the emotional strain of maintaining patience and faith in moments of uncertainty, which can also either be resolved or unresolved.
